windows hanging

hi, i have just put the build in my signature together and i am trying to install windows and its hanging. first it gets to 41 sits there for a bit and then continues then it gets to 80 and hangs again and doesnt move from there for about 30 mins. just to point out im using a usb dvd drive as i dont really want to spend 35 quid on a dvd drive any thoughts?

edit: this is in the exanding windows files part

I always use a pendrive, easier and quicker.

i wouldnt of calssed this as trolling just a bit of humor. if windows is hanging during installation when you are using a usb dvd draw it seems to be buffering a lot due to usb data rate on the draw i would try a usb pen or a internal dvd draw you can pick them up OEM £17 or cheaper

Seriously though...

Disconnect all devices apart from the minimum required to boot windows.
Try alternatives like USB pen booting e.t.c.

These are common trouble shotting tips....

ok i did the usb thing although i couldnt get the iso to burn to the usb..not burn i mean copy the files on the iso to the usb so i managed to get the hdd from my old pc to boot windows and from there installed windows inside windows (inceptions sort of) and now it is nearly finished so thanks for your helpful and no helpful replys LOL

That's another issue on it's own then ! Did you use the Windows 7 ISO Tool > USB ?

Forgot to include the usb tool, mrbell has linked, as you need to make the pendrive bootable. :eek:
