Hi I have bought a laptop a week ago that didn't come with a ssd. I want to put a ssd in it but don't want to lose my windows activation. What is the best thing to do?

If you goto settings and then look for activation. If it says:

Then all you need to do is download the Windows 10 tool:

Windows 10 Link.

And then follow these instructions:

Reinstall.

Or use a clonning software.

what make laptop is it? some laptops are pre activated using the motherboard so if you swap drives then it activates itself. my Dell XPS does this.

Windows 10 is activated on the motherboard I believe, changing the drive shouldn't interfere with this.
