Hey guys

I've got a really frustrating problem occuring with Windows 7 Homegroup and the Network section of Windows 7.

I can setup the Winodws Homegroup fine, and share files and folders. However it seems to enable the sharing of my personal folders (such as My Documents, My Pictures etc) on the Network section.

I only want to share via Homegroup due to the Encryption required to logon to the Homegroup.

Each time I disable the sharing of my Admin Files (My Docs, My Pics etc) on the Network Section.... I encounter problems with viewing other computers across the network.

Does anyone have a solution to this? Its driving me crazy and I keep going in circles!

I would really appriciate some help on this one, Homegroup is a great idea but its frustrating when its attempting to share files I don't want it to share.

Basically I'd like to disable sharing via the 'Network' section, but enable it via Homegroup.

Thanks guys... fingers crossed someone can help me out :D

Can only think of 2 things that might help.

Not sure if you have already removed these folders from your libraries, i believe documents and pictures folder are already part of the default Libraries which are shared by homegroup.

If that fails maybe try selecting the folders that shouldnt be shared and selecting Share with 'Nobody'.

If that dosent work maybe my folders are set up incorrectly too :(

Hi Pereiro

Yeh I've tried that and for that 'session' they disable.

But then say after a few hours, or a restart perhaps... the pc begins to share the files again.

I think its because sometimes the computers on my network disconnect, so I launch the troubleshooter -I think that enables the sharing of the files I didnt want to share.

Does anyone know if there has got to be a certain spec for switches for Windows 7 Homegroup? I got a feeling it could be them...?
