Just out of curiousity, would this spec be ok for a windows home server, my main concern is the power supply, which i am hoping will be sufficient enough. I don't need to worry about a cd/dvd drive as i will use an external to install the OS. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Please feel free to move this if it doesn't belong here. Wasn't sure as it is a server but a general question.

Power supply is fine, but you wouldn't need PC2-8500, PC2-6400 will be fine and 2GBs would be more than enough I would think. The Asus P5QPL-AM only has 4 x SATA ports, if you want to add more HDDs how will you do it? You may be better going for 1 x 1TB F3 (for installation disc, as it is fast) and the other HDDs (for your storage), Samsung EcoGreen F2s...I'm sure others will be able to give more suggestions.

For additional hard disks I would probably just get a pci sata card. I can't imagine i'll need more than an initial 4tb of space. 2GB will probably do the job, as it's really only going to be a media server to distribute data around the house, and maybe eventually TVersity.
