Windows Hosts File

Hi,

Quick question here.

I have a made a website on my laptop. Purely for aesthetic reasons when demonstrating the site (they have a domain name in mind but haven't registered it yet), how would i set a hosts file to point to a
sub folder in iis, as I'm running into problems. The site hosted in iis in a sub folder (E.g. localhost/thesubfolder).

The hosts file just provides a hostname to IP address lookup so you can redirect www.domainname.com to 127.0.0.1 (localhost) but you'll still need to configure IIS so that http://127.0.0.1 takes you to the website root rather than needing the sub folder in the URL.

NM did it. Missed the www before my host header value.

yer that the thing I wanted to know how to do. I'd just missed the the www. part from www.[mytempdomainname].com. All working now
