Hi guys.

Just finishing up my latest build and its that time again for a windows install ( clean )

I've gone through all the process as usual however it's stuck at 0% on expanding windows files!!

Any ideas what this would be occurring. It's never happened to me before and I've installed windows many times on various machines over the years.

It's been like this now for around 20 mins and this is the third time of trying to install

Ta very muchly

take it your installing from a USB stick? if so try a USB 2 port rather than 3 (if your using usb 3)

where did you get the iso file from if its usb stick version as it could have copied over wrong or something.

what OS are you installing? 7\8.1\10?

If you have a large amount of ram, and you do, then certain versions of win7 on certain mobos take a very very longtime to expand those files, just wait it out.

Back again.

Ive got it all loaded up, converted to Win 10. All was easy enough to do.

Ive installed all the drivers needed for my new board etc.

What I'm seeing now is from switch on to desktop is taking about 2 mins.

I'm using a sata 3 intel ssd and my old system was like lightning. Am I doing something wrong again or is boot times delayed on x99 systems or is it because of the 32gb ram?

Cheers

The first thing I'll say is to give serious consideration to installing Windows from a USB flash disk next time - the faster the better, but don't go spending loads of money for a USB drive you'll only use a few times a year, if that.

Have you updated the motherboard's BIOS? What version BIOS is currently installed on your motherboard? The latest BIOS on Asus is 2101 and was released on 06/01/2016.

If you do update the BIOS, reset the BIOS to defaults before and after updating. It may be that you have some rogue settings causing the slow downs, so try installing with the default BIOS settings. Also, how is the storage setup in the UEFI BIOS? Is it in AHCI mode?
