Windows install shennanigans

What the ****.
I received my new Skylake i7, mb etc today, I have a legit copy of win7 64bit, after a few teething probs I finally got in to the desktop.
Tried to run WU and it sat there for 4 HOURS checking for updates, out of desperation I installed autopatcher which downloaded 300 updates (1.2GB) but then AP spazzed out and came up not responding.
FFS.

So I had to manually go through the updates 1 by 1 installing them with a reboot after pretty much every one, 8 f-ing hours I have been at this now!
And I am still no where near finishing, I tried the WU fixes but they did f-all,
Seriously, this is doing my head in, someone must know a fix for this crap?
I paid for my win7 DVD and all I want is support, not a download of Win10.

Help!

Oh, and awesome delivery/service from OCUK as usual, just a shame Windows cannot offer the same support, the shower of *******s that they are!

Widely reported issue with W7 installs hence why a lot of people just go to W10. IMO you may as well just install W10 on a new build, i have it on multiple PC's and have no issues.

Might be worth giving the convenience rollup update a go. Download and install (including prerequisites) as a manual update.

Cheers buddy, but win10 is not an option, I have too many programs that are solid under 7 so really want to stick with it.

Cheers fella, that update is not one I downloaded or came across when looking into WU issues. Thanks, I'll try it tomorrow, seriously brain-fried after spending 8 hours+ on this today.

It certainly makes the process much less painful. It is SP2 in all but name.

I can confirm it worked, took about 10 minutes searching for installed updates on my computer, but got there in the end

Thanks for your help!

I can now finally take the Dual HD tuner from this machine, and also copy over 1.5TB of data, another couple of hours and I'll be all sorted

I've seen machines take over 24hrs to load windows updates.
