Windows Installer Service has Disappeared!

Hi guys,

I am helping out a local primary school with some problems, and one of those problems is installing things on their Windows 2000 server fails.

Just looked in services and there is no Windows Installer service there at all!!!

Tried installing windows installer 3.1 and running msiexec /regserver but to no avail

Anyone have any ideas of thinks to try?

you could try (re)installing the service from scratch by downloading it and installing it from here

IIRC Windows XP is the only OS guaranteed to have the Windows Installer Service "built-in".
