There is no legal free way to get XP discs
If he has a COA, then it's legal to use a dowmloaded image of XP.
I think he probably meant that according to MS's licensing terms, you're not allowed to create an unauthorised copy of the distribution medium, so if MS themselves don't make it available or approve of anyone else doing so (which they don't), if you do download an ISO from an alternative source then you're technically doing something "illegal" (without wanting to get into the semantics of the word).If he has a COA, then it's legal to use a dowmloaded image of XP.
