windows issue

Try booting off the windows cd/dvd :)

Dont select recovery console, let the install go further then at some point it will 'search for previous versions of ms windows' at that point it should find your current install, when it does there should be the option to Repair it... try that :)

Im sure its worked for me in the past!

The reapair option is only good if you know DOS commands inside-out.

I've just had to reinstall windows after a couple of power cuts corrupted my installation.

Wasn't happy I can tell you.

At least it was only a software problem though huh?

tried recovery console, gave up, thinking its a hardware issue now, tried to put windows back on, when copying files for install it runs painfully slow, then says cant copy file, thats as far as it gets, after copying about 10% ish of the files for the xp install
????

Like i said DONT select recovery console... its not for 'normal' users!

Keep on going through the installation untill it searches for previous versions of windows, it will find your old one and have the option for Repair... i think its the 'R' key, cant remember!
