I have been having this problem with this new PC with Windows 10 so did a fresh install of Windows 11 and the issue is still there. The problem being is high CPU usage and Temps when opening any sites that use java (I know simple answer don’t use any sites that uses java) this is happening when using any browser it is also happening with a couple of media players like MPC-BE & VLC, CPU & Temps not as high as when java but it is still there. Not once did I have this problem on my last system which was an old AMD 1700x.

This has got to be a Windows issue because last night I installed Fedora KDE plasma and not once did I see any high CPU usage or high Temps going on the same sites and using any media player. I could stay on Fedora but I use Staxrip quite a lot and it’s not supported on linux.

Anyone else seeing these issues within Windows on a similar system.

Much appreciated for any help with this one.

I tried it with Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Brave all do the same thing, but never once did it happen before this new system. I did a fresh install of windows 10 and it happened. I upgraded to 11 and it continued so I did a fresh install of 11 it lasted 1 day and started again. I tried fedora last night and it works perfectly fine.

What's a few examples of websites
That are causing the problem?

And what's your definition of high cpu usage?
What process is using the high %
When it occurs?

If you run winver
It will give both windows version number
And OS build number
Both of those might also be relevant info
So can do an apples to apples comparison
Will reply to this later had to rush out.

Like I said any site that uses java doesn't make any difference which one they all do it, the wife plays on some java games but the one it does it on the most is when I am playing zynga poker via facebook. If I leave zynga and open another tab CPU load goes down, but soon as I go back to zynga it shoots back up. This has been tested with extensions installed and with no extensions issue is still there no matter what.

My definition of high CPU usage is like any other definition when the CPU is being stressed which also sends the temperature high what other meaning of high CPU usage can I give!

On this MSI board it gives you the temperature reading on the led motherboard monitor once I open up zynga the fans will spin faster and the temperature shoots up straight away usually hitting anywhere between 85/92 degrees this seems way too much just because it's stressing with a java based game. So like I have said in my 1st post the main processes that are using high % are browsers all 4 of them that I have tried.

What version of windows 11 I am using doesn't make any difference because it did the same under windows 10 but here is the version I am using

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 24H2
Installed on ‎30/‎03/‎2025
OS build 26100.4061
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.84.0

For something to do this on windows and not happen on a 2 different linux operating systems tells me this is a windows issue.

Usually hitting between 77-88 percent though just tried it now CPU usage isn't that bad but temperature is hitting 77 degrees it's just weird this is only doing under windows but is perfectly fine under linux.

All drivers are up to date BIOS is up to date and balanced power plan is set, tried with onboard graphics and with a 970GTX (drivers up to date) so nothing on gpu side either.

Most of the games are played on this site

@Orcvader

No browser will just block java when many sites still use it, none of the one's I have tried will just block that one above.

@Tetras

The main thing is mate it didn't do it on my old system this has only just started on this new system and only in windows. I haven't encountered one issue with using Linux it just runs like it should, no high CPU no high Temps unless I am encoding video and then CPU usage & Temps are no way near the same as when using windows.

Just finding this all strange.

Jre never been installed and I won't, I told her its online or none at all. There is no need to install it when playing online. I'm just going to put a cheap PC together for her if she wants to carry on playing them.
