In the process of overhauling my home file server and wish to create a place to store all of my iTunes all in one place allowing my Vista based PC and my Macbook to share my library.

Do I just need to share the iTunes folder on the file server and point both machines to the share? Or do I need to use some software.

I've searched on the net for a iTunes server but can only seem to find Mac based information.

The server will probably be running Windows XP or Windows 2003 Server standard.

I have my music stored on a nas (synology ds106j) and all I do is direct to the folder (I've assigned it a letter) but this is just one pc.

However if you're running a windows os, why not just install itunes and set it to share library, the other computers running itunes should see it listed.

Should show on the mac too and saves having to sync up the 'index' lists.
