Windows Key + D not working in some games... why?

Hello - I'm booting two games in steam, Alien Isolation and Resident Evil 7 (both through Steam), and Windows Key + D doesn't seem to work on the latter, which I do find really quite annoying.

Any ideas? Cheers

Possibly down to the way fullscreen is implemented? Does alt + tab work?

Does your keyboard have a "game" mode? Mine disables windows keys when I switch to game mode.

Another thing to check is open a folder location in explorer (Documents for example) and leave it open then start the game. Then try alt-tab and see if you are able to give focus to the folder. Some games just don't seem to like swap focus unless they have an object to swap to.
