What would happen if my so called mate (to be ex mate) took my windows 7 serial key of the box in my house, installed a dodgy copy of windows and inserted my key at install? TRUE STORY i think.

having 2 windows 7's on the net at the same time....will mine lock up or something?

If the PCs are of a different config, then from time to time, windows updates and chums should notice a change in hardware config since the code was registered, and ask for validation.
Repeated revalidation may run into issues. Telephone calls and the like having to be made.
If he stole your code, he stole your software licence, theft.

ok..cheers. He asked me if we could do it..i said no..next thing he has an activated copy of windows. I cant confirm it he wrote it down or not...but I suspect.
Not that I care really...just don't want my install to screw up. Agree...if he did..it is theft.
I know it sounds like a dodgy story...but I'm only putting 2 + 2 together.
