Hey guys, recently i'm having some problems with my windows, but i still cant solve it..

Heres the problem, sometimes after closing a window, my desktop shortcuts will disappear, and the desktop will freeze for 2-5 secs before the shortcuts reappear again and everything is fine..

Also when i get back from standby mode and log back on to my user, this happens..
It also last for 2-5 secs before everything is back to normal

I also suspect this is causing my Bf2142 to encounter BSOD with
claud2k.sys error..
Would really appreciate help from you guys.. Thanks in advance.

I had something pretty similar when I was starting into Windows.
Mine didn't get better after a few seconds though.
Think it happened after applying a new theme to XP but not 100% on that.
I ended up reinstalling windows because I couldn't be bothered to troubleshoot.

Try testing if your system is stable 1st of all.
This used to be normall for me but now that you mention it it hasnt happened to me in ages, i know that its restarting explorer.exe ( when its shut down menu bars and icons disappear and when restarted they reappear ). I cant tell weather this is normall tho or not, but im sure something is causing explorer.exe to restart.

Odd standby problem too, try closing all unneeded apps and processes that are unneeded to track down the process that is causing it, if you have terminated everything unneeded (unneeded as in after windows was installed and unneeded windows processes and services) and it still occurs, then i dont know.

hmm okie, will give it a try, but is there a possiblity that it's a harddisk failure?

I personally highly doubt it, if unsure about hdd performance, try hdtach ( to see if its still performaning like a ''working hdd'').
Also try smart if you're unsure about hdd...

i think i found out the problem, and it seems to be notiman.exe which is part of creative sound drivers..
Will it be okie if i were to remove that .exe?

hijackthis

google that and dwonload it from majorgeeks or the merijin site, will disable it from startup if you tell it to

oh okie thank..
hmm i cant disable it through normal windows interface?
wil try the program now..
Edit: i cant find notiman.exe with the program

Search for the file and remove it?
Perhaps its part of another process ( process a.exe in startup list, opens process b.exe ( notiman.exe ) as part of the program ).
If you cant find it make a batch file, let it star up with windows, and make the batch file close the notiman.exe process.

Uninstall the creative drivers and get some newer or different ones?

Also in services.msc or MSconfig it might not be listed as what the file is called. Just disable all creative services running.

Got it, its linked to either CThelper / CTXFIHLP as i disabled both of them together and notiman.exe is gone =)
Thanks guys.
