right my brother has a macbook and he is forever bragging about it. I have a self built gaming machine with 64bit vista and ubuntu aswell as ubuntu on my laptop now what i want to know is why are macs boot up so fast? why hasn't linux matched this? why doesn't windows cache files so it has the "sleep" effect by default. i now make my pc sleep when i go to bed (i understand this uses no power just as a regular shutdown does, now i am on vista within 10 seconds. ubuntu has a speedy boot up no doubt but its still no match to macs and really i want to know why?

ah kool what is the name of it in the bios and will it already be enabled?
also how does this affect the battery life of laptop/macs as i assumed this will drain the battery
also why dont windows do this?
