I see people on windows live messenger on xbox while playing a game. Is this possible via pc? i hate tabbing in and out games..

One thing no pc has got right is multi tasking full screen games and other things and dual monitors. Both Apple and Windows (I think linux as well).

E.g. If I'm playing a fullscreen game on monitor 1, why can't I have msn open on monitor 2 and move seemlessly between the two without minimising the game? Annoying.

Stream has it right with their embedded web browser/friends.

Well you can move seamlessly between them but you have to window it [the game], hardly ideal I must concur.

"Steam" :p

But yeah, it seems that only the likes of Steam or Xfire can do in-game instant messaging.

You'd think that by now, Microsoft could at least implement IM connectivity with Windows Live Messenger in the Games For Windows Live service!

i think there is, search for game overlay.
I just looked at that and if it's www.gameoverlay.com then the website is currently not working for me.

Other searches have lead me to PlayXpert which looks really interesting. Very similar to Xfire but seems to work better according to some reviews. I may give this a go as it apparently supports many common IM applications as well.
