Windows Live Messenger Out

Installed, looks a lot nicer. Uses less memory when sitting in the background, but more when the main windows open, never mind :P

Still cheers for the heads up, is always nice to be upto date with software

I've been using WLM for a while now and I love it. From subtle touches like a nicer layout to great things such as sharing folders I think Microsoft have done really well with this bit of kit this time.

Hopefully a final version means Messenger Plus Live isnt far behind either :D

Beh, i installed it and gave it a quick whirl. But the hack i've been using for the last 4 years doesnt work. Basically allowing me to have no name, or rather for the name field to appeare blank.
Oh well, i refuse to get a name so i guess i'll have to wait it out and hope that someone figures some sort of no name scheme.

Why the hell would you want a blank name?  Or have I missed something really obvious...

I just really didnt like the chore of name choosing, so i had a blank space. It's been like that for about 4 years now (maybe more) and i've grown to like it. Not something i want to change really.

I'm waiting for MSN Plus Live to come out for it which should be anytime soon. Had WLM on this laptop for sometime and its ok, I just need an activities log (which msn+ has) so I can see login/off times of my contacts as well as status changes.

The above is why I have msn 7.5 & msn+ on my main rig atm instead of WLM.

I'm used to using Msg Plus! and Stuffplug-NG. Stuffplug-ng allowed me to use any size Display picture I can't stand having tiny 96x96 display pictured. It also prevented MSN shrinking oversized emotions but is still classed as a beta for 7.5  (95% compatible). I hope they release a WLM version :(

Didn't like messenger live when I tried it last time. I've got 7.5 here patched up and using msn plus and I'm used to it being like that. Might wait for mess.be to have a play with it first.

im using the live beta with a-patch, most defently the best msn ive used so far. Before it was 6.2 they stopped me using it a few months back :(

Same here. I've removed all the ads and tabs and I'm very happy with it so far. The features I needed in Msg Plus! are now in WLM (ie. renaming contacts to their actual name not their MSN name). I do miss tabbed conversations though :'(. I really want to have a play around with the voIP feature as hardly any of my friends have Skype

It will use more when the window is open as it has to draw controls etc... When it is in the system tray it stop drawing controls, hence memory usage drops quite a bit. :)
