Windows Live Messenger + router lock up problems.

Anyone else having any problems with Windows Live Messenger recently?

Whenever I sign into Windows Live Messenger and appear online, my D-Link DSL 504 router locks up and I have to power it off and back on again to get it working so I can access the internet.

I've never had any problems with Windows Live Messenger before, only recently.

I have also just uninstalled the latest version of Java (6) as this seemed to be the cause of the problem via some other forums.

However the problem seems to be back again?

Any ideas?

Will downgrading to MSN Mesenger fix the problem?

I don't get this probably along with thousands of users. How big is your contact list if you don't mind me asking? Sometimes a lock up of the router can be a large data transmission.

I have about 70 contacts in total but no more than 30 ish are online at the same time.

It's strange that when I appear offline everything is fine. Only when I appear online that the problems start.

I think I'm going to have to downgrade to MSN Messanger 8 if this problem persists.

No problems here, have you installed any customizations?..... like messengerplus?..... if so try removing those.

i have more contacts then and have 2 msn running at same time, 1 with 80 contacts other with 30.

no mods except multi msn patch.

uninstall and re-install msn
