Hey

Just put vista back on my machine, seems a lot better than when I last tried it in terms of compatibility!

My only problem is, ive downloaded Windows Live Messenger 8.5.1302.1018 and installed it, but i cannot sign in.

Ive disabled Spybot 1.5.1.15 resident shield, Avast "On action protection" and Windows firewall and still no joy.

Ive ran the Windows live connection troubleshooter, clicked repair, got all green ticks and still wont sign on, just stays on "signing in" animation for ages then eventually comes up with could not sign in error, check your connection e.t.c.

Is there somthing im missing, any compatibility issues with any of the mentioned programs/os? It worked fine on xp:(

Cheers.

I dont know about the version you are using but..

version 9.0.1407.1107 beta works on vista64 (have it running here)

you wont find it at MS tho but can by google. I am also running avast

cheers, ill try that beta, there is a code, and it comes up with the windows help page, but the page tell you to check your firewall e.t.c, ive already tried those steps. However the web live messenger works, so there must be somthing blocking the connection somewhere :(

Nope still no luck signing in with the beta, still get the connection error code 81000306. Also system date and time are correct. Any other ideas guys?

Fixed the problem, had to type the following in command prompt: netsh interface tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
