windows log on problem

When windows loads and asks for a username and password, I enter these and it starts to log in then says saving settings and logs back out!

I've tried logging in several times with 2 different administrator accounts.


Anything I can try that's quicker than repairing / re-installing windows?

You possibly have a virus that has infected the "userinit" section of your registry, the best way to solve it is to put your hard drive in another machine as a slave, then use regedt32 to access the reg on the slave disk

Navigate to the this section:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Current Version\winlogon\Userinit

: and reset it back to C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,
