ive got an origional version of windows and i have 1 User account for me and thats it, with NO password. yet i still get the windows logon screen? WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? and is there any way of fixing it?

You should be able to stop this happeningby going to Control Panel>User Accounts. Then click on 'change the way user log on or off' and uncheck the 'Use welcome screen' box.

I get the same thing .... NO password etc but following the advice above I get "welcome screen has been disabled by client services for NetWare"

any ideas how to bypass the login screen (administrator account)?

Not sure if this will help but I had exactly the opposite problem. A password set but windows went straight in. I was told to do the below.

"maybe you have it set to login automatically
go start->run-> type "control userpasswords2" without the quotes

There is a box "users must enter a password to use this computer"

or the other option is turn the welcome screen off and it should stop at the password login box (the old style windows 2000 login box or the one you get when you are on a domain)"

Obviously that will make the welcome screen appear but within that control panal there may be an option to stop it. I'd check myself but I'm at work on a limited account PC.

i tried the "user logon screen" and i still get that dialog box asking me for a password when I DONT HAVE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! any more ideas?

You could also try a free program by microsoft called Powertoys Tweak UI that has the option on there to auto login plus many other nice features get it from microsoft.com its worth the free download ;)
