A problem has occure don my other system and I am not sure if it is hardware or software.

Running windows xp sp3 (I'll get *** system spec later, but don't think that matters here)

Basically you would be using the pc and then it will just decide to log off and then shutdown. It happens randomly too, for example youd be using it for 5 hours and it will do that and sometimes after 5 minutes. But sometime it won't do it for weeks.

I was thinking if it were h/w then it would be more and more frequent, like overheating psu it would eventually not work or turn off faster and faster.

I don't have any software which will initiate a safety shutdown either, unless xp has one?

let me know what you think as it's getting real annoying.

O.K it;s started happening more frequently now and a new symptom too.

It turns on but after a few minutes and sometimes under a minute the monitor will go blank, also it sometimes will restart during boot in bios.

I am thinking motherboard, could the GFX card be related to the motherboard or could both be faulty?

I am thinking it is H/W now what do you think?

I did check the switch but it happened even with it disconnected. Woudl the monitor turning itself off be realated to the power off switch? It's totally separate. The monitor turns off and devices powered on the usb lose power but the cd tray can still be opened and looks like the motherboard still has power though but not processing anything as the usb doesn't get power.

It has post led (self test function) on the motherboard.

It says FF - whcih means boot attempt (INT 19H)

"If the POST fails, we can
check the POST Code in address 80h to find out where the problem lies."

where is address 80h? so i can check if soemthing is wrong with the motherboard
