Hello can anyone shed some light, i am trying to help my dad out,

If he clicks reply to his friend - [email protected] it works fine, if he creates a new email to this stored contact [email protected] it fails with the below, i tried delteing the contact and readding.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was ' [email protected]'. Subject 'Test', Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'SMTP.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 5.1.2 The address specified is not a valid RFC-5321 address. q6sm13677505wmd.8 - gsmtp', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Q. Is this the Windows mail client in win 10? did you update to the latest build released last week?

Since I upgraded I have noticed a few bugs specifically with the mail client. Not nothing serious, just not updating the number of read/unread emails despite the fact that I have read them all etc....

What is this 'Windows Mail' that you are talking about? The built in metro style app that comes with Windows 10?

Delete the gmail account from the app.
Go here. https://www.google.com/settings/security/lesssecureapps and enable less secure mode as a test.
Re-add the account to the Windows 10 app selecting the Google option.

If you're setting it all up up manually then it's on you to get the settings right.
