Hey guys just a quick question about what i require for WMCE to work completely.

Obviously base PC but is it just add a Remote and TV Card and its all sorted?

Any TVCards you could recommend to me? looking to record and put onto my PMC which would be cool.

Also I have claimed my free upgrade which has been verified so very happy with that :)

Hauppage Nova-T 500 is a stonking card.
Probably post this too much, but MCE is rubbish in my opinion, rather go Media Portal (from the guys who originally did Xbox media centre)
Just don't install every codec and all the codec packs you can find, only install ones you actually need ;)

Nova-T 500 is excellent, i've got one, but as with everything new be prepared for a bit of farting around, i'm still having terrible stability issues with this card and i'm not the only one... When it works it great but the drivers provided by hauppauge leave very little to be desired atm.

I've got 2 old nova-t dvb-t cards and mce 2005 and it all works great, as for codecs, I use descaler-5 with my ati gc however the nvidia purevideo thing works well as well (not as good with my card though)

Happy New Year :D :p

I bought the Hauppauge HVR-3000 and stuck it into a Shuttle SB75G2 barebones system and it's been running well. I bought the MCE2005 remote control and it works well, no hastles setting up or crashing that I had with MediaPortal (granted it was a release from about six months ago). I use a Nvidia FX5200 to do video-out to my TV (Sony 26" HDTV) and use the VGA signal from that as I had problems in the past getting SCART to recognise my video, I think it was due to lack of RGB SCART on my old TV.

I agree with others that Hauppauge driver support is lacking so make sure the product you buy already has MCE2005 drivers (like the HVR-3000).
