If I bought this, could I use it to repair the damaged OS's of any WMC PC, provided it has a key attached to it? Btw, is WMC bootable? My friend lent me a backup copy of his, just so I could do repairs, but it doesn't boot from disk, only works from the desktop...

It is bootable.

It can be used to install on other PCs with their code - providing they have bog-standard OEM Media Center, and not branded (Dell, HP etc) MCE pcs. These have manufacturer-specific codes that don't need activation - and only work with the disc with the relavent oembios.bin file to check the BIOS.

My mate has a Dell PC which came with Media Center, it was preinstalled with a lot of crap so he wanted to format it. I gave him my Media Center discs and he used them with his code and they worked a treat.

Yup doesn't matter of the CD itself, as long as you use code from that machine. ie I could carry XP Pro SP2 disc and install it on machines, as long as those machines have individual licenses. I don't have to use the physical CD that came with that machine (in fact corporate ones don't come with hundreds of discs, you just have a few corporate discs which IT admin install)

It won't activate online though (well the Home/Pro ones don't!) - you'd need to ring up MS and explain.
