I don't suppose there's anything that will change which audio output media centre uses? I've found a plugin that will change windows default audio output device when I launch media centre. However I would really like to be able to have media centre playing through my SPDIF too my surround sound while having everything else playing through my headset.

I can do it in winamp but I'd really like to use media centre.

How do browse my music with categories like album or artist? At the moment it's just the folder layout from my hard drive.

Edit: Doesn't matter, I'll figure it out my self.

Does it have support for tv tuners? Not much use to me if it doesn't :C

Doesnt seem like it does

It's superior to media centre in every way. It does more or less everything (and looks better too)

You lied to me, how could you? :(

So what are my options for software that will play my music, tv and have options to specify audio output?

It's very easy to change the audio output in Windows Media Center (Windows 7 version assumed). Run Media Center and navigate to Tasks>Settings>General>Windows Media Center Startup>Set Up Your Speakers. You need to choose Toslink to output via SPDIF.

Oh man, I really thought that was going to work for a second but it just changes the output for all of windows. I want just media centre to play via optical.

Is it really so much to ask for a piece of software that will handle my music, movies, tv and lets me specify the audio output? It's just silly.

Someone put me out of my misery.
