Windows Media Centre MPG 0:00 Long...

Anyone any ideas how to fix this ?

VOB files renamed as MPG are reported as 0:00 long, resulting in the inability to pause, ffd and rwd.

I have a feeling its a codec issue, but I'm using the standard MS codecs, with CCCP, then the latest FFDshow tryout installed.

which Windows is it?

try removing all your codecs, then install Vista Codec Package -if it's XP or Vista
