For some reason unknown to me, the option to set the recording quality on my Media Center PC just isn't there!

It appears as if it is stuck on the lowest setting judging by the amount of disk space it is using, but the option to change it just isn't there! It appears in the help file, on the MS website, everywhere, except where it should be!

Anyone have any ideas why it isn't there?

Using the analogue tuners you get the options.

With the digital tuners used, you don't get any options and the recording quality is not as good as I think it should be, approx 1GB per hour of recording, which is 3 times as small as the best quality analogue recording.

Also the FM radio doesn't seem to work when the digital tuners are used. This is on an Acer Aspire iDea 500.

I thought it just records the raw stream
That it does. For DVB-T, it just dumps the stream to a file and adds a few bits of metadata containing the name, when recorded, info etc.

For Analogue, MCE requires a card that does hardware MPEG-2 encoding, so it works in exactly the same way as with DVB-T - dumps the stream it gets from the card.

As far as I'm aware, there isn't a way to change the quality or filesize.
