I’m confused I’ve heard that once you register your copy of Windows Media Centre it also registers your PC components so for instance if I want to upgrade the MEM it will slow Media Centre down. Just wondering if anyone knew if this was true?

Cheers

media center is Winxp. Xp has been registering components for years, but it doesnt slow anything down when you change them. You just need to ring and ask for re-activation.

of course, people using dodgy copies of XP may not know this;)

I have a legit copy of XP just not sure of the procedure and If by upgrading the MEM MS see this as a new system and charges me for Media Centre again as my copy only always me to activate it on one machine.

No, that's not how it works. They dont charge you for reactivation on the same machine, its to clamp down on people buying one copy and isntalling it on a Dozen PCs
