Windows media player 11 & wmv files

Hi everyone, is it just me or does WMP11 have a lagging issue when seeking through wmv files?

It seems fine with avi files but has an annoying 5 second delay when searching through a wmv movie file using the seek bar.

I downgraded to WMP9 and it solved the issue but then I experianced blocky movies.

DIVX player and the creative media ones work fine and I have downloaded media player classic home cinema to try.

If I disable direct X in WMP11 performance settings it makes it a little better. I notice that WMP9 does not have this setting.

Can you not install Media player 12? I use this on Win 7 and it's very good. When I was running Vista I used VLC which worked a treat and played everything without issue.

Also have you tried enabling/disabling hardware acceleration from within the performance options to see what happens?

Yeah, I tried that and it disables the direct X acceleration option and does make it noticeably faster when seeking through a wmv movie file.

I wanted to know if anyone else was experiancing the same issue though?
