Windows Media Player 12 sound issue

I have a problem at the moment in Windows 7 where the WMP 12 sound keeps autotuning itself up and down dependant on how noisy it is. I've tried every option I can think of. Anyone have any ideas on how to disable this feature?

The constantly adjusting audio is very annoying!

What MB, soundcard and driver version are you using?

I found I had to install soundmax fr my asus board with built in sound under W7, the sound all semmes to work perfectly well in all applictaion with the exception of anythign with has a microphone output. This was accompanied by a crackling noise, installing soundmax then sorted the cracking on TS/Mumble/ventrillo etc.

Might also be quiet mode in that menu as well.
