Hi,

I'm currently reorganising my music library of over 26,000 songs which is quite time consuming. My question relates to how Album Art is associated with the song files.

I have a few thousand songs in a Folder called "Others" and the Album Art for those songs is in that folder. If I create separate folders for each artist and put the songs in them, will the Album Art associations still work in Windows Media Player ? Or put more simply, does the Album Art have to be in the same folder as the song to be associated with it ?

Hope that makes sense ??

Cheers

My understanding of it is that if you had a folder called 'Artist - Album' and all of their songs in it, it would pick up the album art. So if you moved all of the 'Others' into individual folders WMP would sort it out when you play them.

Personally, I just rip my CDs, then go to a website and download the cover. All you need to do is name the cover jpg to 'folder' and Windows automatically picks that image as a thumbnail for the folder. WMP is too hit and miss for me in getting covers.

I'll post a picture of my albums folder to show you what I mean when I get a sec.

thanks for the info......

have moved all the artists to their properly names folders so think i'll just crack on and get the album art manually..... using WMP11 Beta and its very good for putting the correct art on each track/album...... you can't beat Google Images !!
