On the road....
Media player keeps launching itself automatically on my Dads PC, nothing is listed under startup / msconfig that points to why its doing this and when it launches, it plays no file, it just keeps re-appearing no matter how many times I close it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks. )

Do you use it.?
Could always just uninstall it.

I'd rather know why all of a sudden it is launching by itself so I can stop it from doing so, yes, media player is used on the machine so removing it is not much of an option.

I'm removing it anyway to re-install to see if that fixes it.....

Is it the latest version of wmp.?

Was just about to say uninstall and download the latest version :):p

Is it possible the keyboard has a key stuck that opens the media player?

This was my first thought, it has a wireless Logitech keyboard a Y-RK56A Cordless Internet Pro (which I'm using to type this) and it has a Media button on it, it seems to be ok though.

I'll try some new batteries as I'm half convinced its down to the keyboard in some way or another.

Edit - New batteries have no effect.

If you have installed the latest version of Logitech's Setpoint & have Vista, check the Windows Sideshow controls in your Control Panel & untick any Windows Media Player entries. You may also have to reboot after doing so for it to take effect.

You said you have tried new batteries, good :)
Have you tried with the keyboard unplugged to see if it keeps opening up?

Got any media devices connected that WMP would be trying to sync with all the time?
