I am getting beyond annoyed now at windows movie maker
My parents went to vegas and got back last week for a 25th wedding anniversary trip. I said that I would put the photos and videos onto a dvd for them to show people when they returned.
After sorting the issue of a wrong file format (JVC HDD camcorder recording in some random MOI or MOE file format), i got all the videos converted to work with media player and movie maker. Fine, no codec issues.
Now I have added some of the clips onto my timeline which previously was just photos and music etc. Now whenever I try to clip the audio down by dragging the bar, or shift along the timeline, movie maker crashes.
I tried saving the project to a certain point and carrying on with a seperate video, but after only adding one soundbyte of about 5 seconds I still cannot drag my timeline or clip the audio. I get no error message just a total freeze of the program and I have to close. I have removed all the "Collections" incase this was clogging up the program, but still no joy.
I went to windows where it appears to be a common problem, they suggest creating a new registry
I have done this, rebooted the system but still get exactly the same problem. I have spent hours so far working on the video I really dont want to be starting all over again!
Help appreciated

To add a new registry key for Windows Movie Maker to prevent the timeline from not responding
1.Click Start, and then click Run.
2.In the Run dialog box, type regedit.exe, and then click OK.
3.In Registry Editor, navigate to the following location: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MM20]
4.Click anywhere in the pane on the right that contains the different registry keys and corresponding values.
5.On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD value.
6.For the new registry key name, type DynamicSourcesforPreview, and enter the value 0.
7.Close Registry Editor and restart Windows Movie Maker.
I have done this, rebooted the system but still get exactly the same problem. I have spent hours so far working on the video I really dont want to be starting all over again!
