I've just got my new pc and I've installed windows 7 onto it. I've set up a home network via my virgin (netgear) router between my new machine and my old XP one. I've gone through all the setup and the Xp machine can see the new one no probs n let's me access the shared folders etc.
However, the win 7 machine won't. It can see the old machine and even the shared folders but it will not let me access them. I keep getting the same "you are not authorised blah blah blah" error message. I also get told the server dosent have enough memory to perform the function or somesuch. I have set both up as a workgroup n all names, settings etc are correct as far as I can see.

What am I missing?

If using the same username on both machines, are the passwords the same?

Are the shares on the XP machine set with teh correct permissions?

I've turned passwords Off and as far as I can see there should be nothing stopping me from accessing the folders. Tried firewall off and on too. I can push files from the Xp setup into the W7 folders and they are accessible from the Other side but can't do it the other way round.
