Of course i mean the internet. I'll remember to use the correct terminology next time your around......anyway, back to my network. Its the most simple network you can imagine. 2 win XP-Pro machines (one lappy and one desktop) a crossover cable linking the two.

When i link them together it says "Limited or no connectivity" click the picture and see what i get when i try to repair the connection. I have tried using the winxp wizard and have tried setting the I.P's up using 192.168.0.1/2 etc.... but to no avail.

The laptop is connecting to the inter'net' via the desktop pc. This is connected to a USB ADSL modem.

Any idea's?

Cheers

eeeer i have no idea, it was a picture of the error message last nite...... I will have a play around tommorow and try some of the settings you guys have suggested. Just so you know the cable isnt at fault as the network works perfectly when i manually enter the I.P addresses (And i have tried another cable). When I do this however the laptop is unable to connect to the internet via my pc as the default gateway is incorrect (Blank). I tried setting the default gateway to 192.168.0.1 which at the time was the I.P addy for the main pc, I also tried changing it to my modems I.P. No luck on either. Ah well im off out on the lash now so will be in no state to fix it tonite. i'll be back tommorow with more questions no doubt.

cheers guys.
