I think when my internet wasn't working, i played around with some network settings to try and fix it.
Trouble is now although my computer really isn't on some big network, it acts like it is.

ie i used to log on, and it would go to the welcome screen (standard xp blue one) but now i get the box when you enter a username of password, like i were logging on at a library or something.

also now when you press ctrl+alt+delete you get the "lock computer" and "change password" kind of option box.

anybody know how i get my old 'homely' windows back, otherwise reinstall me that OS.

Control Panel, User accounts and then depending how its set up for you at the moment either "Change the way users log on" or "Require ctrl-alt-del for log on" IIRC.

/edit Think there might be an option if you have the change the way users log on bit to set it to use the welcome screen.

There is a specific file which controls that logon screen. I'll try and dig it out for you. So long as you restore this file to the old one, your logon screen will return to normal.

You just need to go to Control Panel, User Accounts and tick "Use the Welcome screen" under "Change the way users log on or off".
