Currently using a netgear DG834PN which can see two physically attached Win XP MCE2005 fully patched PC's

They are on the same workgroup with IP issued from the router above

File sharing is enabled and Netbios is also through WINS tab of Advanced TCP/IP settings

both logged on as same user with same password and they refuse to acknowledge existance of the other (edit both are the sole admin accounts)

On one of the PC's I also have a usb wireless stick which connects fine with the router also but using either IP address from each machine gets "network path not found"

Any ideas?

can both machines ping each other at all?

Have you also tried disabling any firewall s/w on the machines to see if that works.

No ping doesnt work at all amd yeah s/w firewall is off on both pc's

Can they both ping the router? Its probably a software problem, maybe something to do with the routers config. I would say are they both on the same subnet but if the DHCP is assigning then thats probably not it, when you say the router can see them do you mean lights come on on the front or do you mean in the config it can see the MAC address etc.?

I think I fixed it - the windows firewall was disabled but Norton was blocking it for some reason

Bit daft that firewall blocks internal traffic but there ya go
