HI
Everytime i start my pc i get a message saying windows is not genuine would i like to buy a gennuine coppy . strange as i am using a retail windows 7 64 bit bought from here. been running fine for nearly a year . No component upgrades resontly or viruses detected ????

Any ideas ??

Found the problem . after updating my antivirus and rescanning it found a trojan, which it has now removed . First one thats got through in a while. Oh well no dammage done hopfully . But being paranoid it took me over an hour changing all my important passwords :(

How come your AV was not updated to begin with? It should auto update daily (at the very least!)!

It doaes auto update , i manually updated before the scheduled update . and that found the trogan. It would have done it on its own later that evening . But were is the fun in that :D

What was the name of the trojan and which antivirus program are you using?

It was actually 2 . Java/downloader , and Java/classloader and im using microsoft security essentials , and i keep AVG up to date on my HD but not active just as backup for a scan from time to time ..

Unless I'm mistaken about the protection antivirus programs are supposed to provide then you got hit by two 'zero day' vulnerabilities which were detected by MSE definitions updated on 16th January.

A brief search didn't yield anything in Microsoft's Malware Encyclopedia for 'Java Downloader' or 'Java Classloader' on that date. Consider me confused.

Sorry i should have said that AVG found them . As i ran avg first and removed them i dont know weather microsoft would have detected them
