OK, So I have been running the same copy of Win7 Home Premium ever since it was released. Now today, I had a bath and when I let out the water, it tripped my power as there was a MAJOR leak. Got everything running again, boot PC up and have the Windows not Genuine message on my desktop. Ideas boys?

It might have done something to your CMOS battery in the motherboard or something like that. If I recall right there's one small part of the mainboard that the OS checks for hardware consistency and if it's not the same as before it'll assume that particular Windows install is on a different machine altogether.

I could be wrong about the CMOS battery part, but the message stems from the OS thinking it's on a different machine now.

My Steam has gone the same way...thinks this is a new PC...also logging onto my EVE Account Management was the same...

Odd.

What can I do to fix the Windows issue then? Got my OEM case sat next to me now...

OK. Tried to reactivate and I get faced with the following.

The following failure occurred while trying to use the product key:

Code:
0x80070241

Description:
Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damage, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source.

Check your time and date. I've had that before.

Should have mentioned, my time and date got reset, some windows certificate expired and screwed a whole bunch of things.

Time and date is fine. Windows now has a pop-up saying I need to re-install...oh well...time to make back ups...

Done a virus and spyware check with malwarebytes, spybot and microsoft security essentials?

edit: doh, didn't see the post above.
