Windows notification bar - fake virus warnings

Something weird has just started happening with my wife's laptop. She's getting virus warnings in the notification area on W10. They are displaying as notifications from Google Chrome, and are subtitled with this website name:

captcharesolving-universe.com

They're clearly fake - just an attempt to trick her into clicking the link they contain. (To be safe, I've run a Defender scan too which has come back clean.)

The odd thing is that, I understand these are just notifications from a webpage - but they're happening when the only webpage open is a google search.

Any suggestions on what's happening and what we can do about it?

Thanks!

Go to: chrome://settings/content/notifications

It should list the allowed notifications, fine that site and block them.

Cheers!
After writing this I engaged my brain, and realised she's probably clicked the 'allow notifications' pop-up at some point in the past so I checked that.

You're quite right, and I've now blocked them and advised her not to allow anything like that in future.
