Well, before today, it used to take 18 seconds for my computer boot from being off at the wall, to being onto the homepage of the internet.

now it takes an age... it sits on both the mobo post and also has a loading screen type thing now for windows 8 which it didnt before.

i have added a new ssd (currently empty), which is the only hardware change, and cant tihnk of any software change that could have caused it.

ive unplugged the ssd and still it takes its time, any ideas?

try clearing the cmos/loading optimised defaults and re enter your oc/bios settings

turn off any un needed ports, marvell for example as it will slow the boot time

Is your OS on an SSD?
Do you have AHCI enabled?
Do you have an external HDD connected to your PC? Mine does the same untill I disconnect it.

cheers for the quick replies guys,

os is on an ssd yeah, ahci is enabled, no external ssd, but i do have a 2 tb internal, but thats not changed since the old boot times.

already checked startup and net config doesnt seem out of the ordinary - but cheers for that!!

will try a cmos clear now

ok, i didnt get round to clearing cmos, just tried unplugging the ssd again, restarted and it was on <20 seconds again... plugged new ssd in again... still <20 seconds.... tried again, took an age....

tried again, didnt unplug the new ssd or anything and <20 seconds...

i hate intermittent problems!

id update to latest motherboard bios if you havnt already, and look for any firmware updates for your ssd's
