Pretty simple, if I install vista on my system now, will the OS still work when I switch my processor, motherboard, ram and GPU as I plan to do in a couple of days? I have the OEM edition, not the retail edition

No, you would be breaking your license terms. Windows OEM is tied to the motherboard of the computer it's installed on. Unless you're swapping the motherboard for warranty purposes you're no licensed. If you upgrade your computer a lot get the retail edition. Why not install Linux or something for a few days? Saves having to buy a new license for Windows :).

I think you could install Vista as a 30 day trial (i.e with no key) until the motherboard has been changed and then enter your product key.
