I just did a clean install of Windows 7 but this 'windows.old' file seems to have all my files from my previous OS. Should I just keep this or delete it?

Doesn't it mean all the crap like bad registries, old drivers will interfere with the new OS?

No it won't interfere, WIn7 just puts everything into the .old folder incase users want to move previous dirs over.

Delete as you please.

You didn't do a totally clean install as you didn't format your drive during the install process, as above it moved everything to an old folder.

It is a clean install (as in the new location is clean) just old windows files inc user dir and programs files - useful but a huge use of disk space :p

Just get what you need and delete.

Then defrag.

Indeed. Defragging after install is essential. I timed it before and after, from post screen to login screen. Went from 40secs down to 26secs after a defrag.
