Hey all.

I've just been offered this through MSDN:AA.

My question to you all - is it any good?

Thanks.

Nope, tested Beta and full verions.

It bogs down your PC and I mean really bad, same as Defender does as Defender is part of it.

Also with Defender you will see your HDD is accesssed all the time and its a PIA.

Yeah it was very buggy for me, unfortunately I purchased the full version for our family internet PC. Ended up getting rid and going with NOD32 :)

Fair enough, i've just had an email offering me the full version of Kaspersky instead.

I think i'll go with that. :)

I have defender and tried to scan my PC with it a couple of times, but it just slows it to a halt, and manages to use up all 4Gb of my ram.

I think there's something wrong with your PC. Maybe try updating your chipset drivers or look for other problems.

I just did a scan, it was finished in less than a minute and used an extra 1000 K.

Less than a minute? I assume that was a quick scan? :P

I'll try a full scan, see how it copes. Currently idling at 0-5% cpu and 64% ram used.

Well Defender is using 8,984 K on my computer at the moment, so I don't see how it can "bog" down your PC.

He asked for opinions and he got mines.

Onecare and Defender get a crap name if you do any reading.

One of the 1st thing any peep who know a little about Vista does at install is disable Defender or your HDD will be seeking away for no real reason and I do not mean during scans.

That's all I will say on topic, the op got his answer from me and another and he can make his own choice.

lol, calm down.

I'm giving him MY view. And telling him the memory usage on MY PC.

I know and np, :) but it slows boot up time and makes HDD chatter much more from my use and reading others opinions on it.

It does not get a good name overall.

The Actual Ram and CPU use in meter does not seem to reflect its slow down of the HDD.

Hmm, I guess it was just a rather dodgy build or something, its running fine now. Sometimes the ram usage jumps up, but then drops back down again. No problems here :)
