Hey guys,

played several games tonight of CS..and during the previous game, it froze. I couldnt Alt+F4, couldnt open task manager, couldnt quit to desktop etc..

The strange thing is, I was still in Discord, talking away, and it let me press the windows key on the keyboard, and the dock would pop up, but nothing would load?

I then tried to press the restart icon, restarted straight away, and 10 seconds later..im back into W11 and as nothing happened? CPU and GPU temps were acceptable etc..

Im confused if it was either Windows, or CS GO?

Any ideas guys?

hmm, im wondering now, if as im running the Wraith Prism cooler on my 5900X, is there a chance if this did peak a little too high, the game could have hard crashed? I had been on for a fair few hours, playing MM?

my guess is graphics driver - install the latest if you didn't already

i have installed the latest graphics drivers, but now im thinking of it, i dont have all the updates from Windows, when I done a fresh install the other day, it installed some, but im guessing i should do all?

Im thinking of doing a clean install, and update everything, BIOS and all before I install any games?

If you just did a clean install I don't see the point of doing another one - but defo get all the updates.

I wouldn't touch the BIOS unless you know you have a reason to, because it can be more trouble than it's worth.

yeah, the reason I ask about BIOS as I want to put a thermal limit on the CPU (just to be safe) and i have two NVME drives, a 500gb Boot drive, and a 1tb drive specifically for games..I have Escape From Tarkov and CS GO on the second drive..it doesnt have a heatshield on the motherboard, just my BOOT drive does.

Could over heating on that drive be a factor? or likely to be some software issue?
