Windows PPTP

[On Holiday]

Trying to set a server to host Windows PPTP VPNs so other PCs can connect to it and communicate via Local IPs relatively securely.

1 - Firewalls - Windows - Rules set but also tried completely disabling on both sides temporarily
2 - Port Forwarding - only configured on clients router - nothing required server side (obviously!)

What else am I missing?

Where can I find logs (server and clientside)

Uhhhh? You'll need to port forward on the router that the 'server' is connected to. Clients don't matter.

PPTP isn't very secure - you could look into LogMeIn Hamachi to create a VPN. What is the purpose of the connection?

I don't - It's a dedicated server on a WAN IP.

Yeah, I've found that out after a bit of further reading.

I'll put Hamachi on the consideration list though, thanks.

No firewall and no rules in place between the server and the internet (i.e. nothing on the switches)

Probably right. Given up on that idea now

Yeah pptp isnt that secure anymore. Try open vpn, or i use softether which supports its own protocol, openvpn and ikeav2.
