Quick question, if i use windows 7 to create a software RAID 1 config, and my boot drive fails, the raid 1 config isn't somehow "locked" to that windows install because of the software raid? ie i can reinstall windows and it'll be able to read the data (doesn't matter of the raid is broken)

Raid 1 is a direct mirror, it's not 2 separate windows installs.

If one drive fails just replace it and the mirror will rebuild. No windows reinstall needed.

My windows install won't be on the raid 1 array, that's a separate 2x 2tb disks, i was just wondering if it could be read again by another install as i read somewhere that windows converts the disks into "active disks" or some sort
