Before we log the issue over to Microsoft and pay them money, thought I would ask here and see if anyone come across this issue before.

Currently I have several 2016 RDS farms

RDSMGR01 - This is the connection broker, webserver so the main server
RDSFS01 - This is file server for user profile disks
RDSLIC01 - This is our licence server for our various RDS farms
RDSH01-06 - These are our host servers in 3 collections of two servers each.

This has been working fine for months no issues.

We have two main collections one for uses with single screen and uses with dual screens, in the collection we have set number of desktop screens to 1 and 2 and this has worked fine with no issues.

We now need to upgrade the whole environment to 2019, had I known now about RDS then the broker server would have been built on 2019 to start with, just we have an app on the host servers that was not supported on 2019 it is now.

So put in change request did the RDSMGR01 to 2019 (1809 LTSC) no issues, had to reconfigure SSO but that was fine.

However the dual screen collection now only spans a single monitor checked the settings still set to two screens, tried changing it via the GUI and PowerShell no joy, however if I change it to three screens then it will span 3 screens, change back to 2 screens and its stuck on a single screen again.

I created a new collection and got the same issue, so needless to say I have not got a clue.

Has anyone come across something like this before?

Thanks

I built a few 2016 and 2019 RDS farms and haven't come across this issue.

Just something to think about, read up on FSLogix profile disks as an alternative to the awful RDS ones. It's a doddle to setup (nothing more than a new file share and a few reg keys). They are MUCH better!

also, think about splitting your web server away from the broker.

We are going to get the issue logged over to Microsoft in the new year as built a fresh farm and have the same issue very odd.

Looked at the FSLogix will have a play in the new year, see if it something that would work for us, but we have several collections on each RDS farm with their own profile disks.

Why would you suggest splitting the web server from the broker?
